I have been a sports and outdoor enthusiast for as long as I can remember, and an athlete since my father first had me pick up a bat at age 4. Before college I was a tennis and softball player for many years, and after college I became an avid endurance athlete. These days I mostly run. I somehow combined this with learning Chinese and receiving a PhD in History from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
